At the annual meeting, a suggestion was raised for consistently lighting our neighborhood. One easy way to improve the lighting of the entire neighborhood at night is simply to use the coach lighting on our homes. The problem is remembering to manually turn those lights on or off at night.
An easy solution is to install a photo cell insert into your lights on your porch or garage. Simply screw in the insert and then the lightbulb into the insert. Visibly, virtually no change is noticed from the street as the bulb is only lowered about an inch. Money will be saved as your lights then will automatically turn off during the day. Additionally, the neighborhood will be consistently lit at night.
These are available at Lowe's and Home Depot for a very nominal cost.
